One of the first things I see when pulling into the driveway is my mailbox. And for the last year and a half it has looked terrible. The paint was pealing and it was dented.
This does not scream “come on in to my warm welcoming home.” More like “run away!” Now that the front yard looks like a front YARD instead of a forest it was time to give this old mailbox a makeover. So I took off the old mailbox, painted the post with some paint I had leftover, and had my wonderful husband put on the new mailbox. Total cost for mailbox and numbers…. 40$.
Much better. A Simple black mailbox with a white post. A timeless classic that looks great anywhere and doesn’t need to cost a lot of money. One of my neighbors even stopped by today to say that she liked the new mailbox and wanted to know where we had gotten it. I told her Lowes for about 40$. She replied “Oh, I like the expensive one’s. I’ll have to call my mailbox guy to put one in for us.” No I am not kidding. She is interesting… What is a mailbox guy anyway?
* The old mailbox was made out of metal so I dropped it right into our recycling cart. Perfect.
